Thank you so much to our golf fundraiser sponsors, players, donors, and volunteers. We netted over $7,000 for life-changing, ob-training scholarships! This will allow us to award at least 7 scholarships. Due to an early donation, we already awarded 4 Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) scholarships. Three have already graduated (Latrice, Porsha, and Shandora) and one just started (Tawana).
AOD is pleased to announce the award of two more scholarships for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training to Denell Littleton and Latrice Houston!
This makes a total of seven CNA training scholarships funded by our first annual AOD Scramble for Scholarships golf fundraiser in May 2018 (two welding scholarships were also funded by this event). The CNA training will be conducted at the North Alabama School for CNAs in Huntsville. Each $1,000 scholarship includes the tuition for the two-week training program, the state exam fee, and a gift certificate for scrubs/uniform items.
AOD helped five Aberdeen High School (Aberdeen, Mississippi) cadets in the Air Force Junior ROTC unit attend a Leadership FTX (Field Training Exercise) camp at Lavinia National Guard Training Center in Lavinia, Tennessee June 23-27, 2014. The five cadets (Cameron Cockerham, Shamyia Fair, Jose Gonzalez, Malaysia King, and Santianna Rogers-McMillian) competitively selected by their instructors for this camp and AOD paid their registration deposits ($100 each).
Devonta "Petey" Walker and Tavarus Eckford play football for Aberdeen High School (Aberdeen, Mississippi). AOD Vice President Jeff Coggin is their line coach (as well as the school's Air Force Junior ROTC instructor).
