Sharee graduated high school in 2004 and went to Tennessee State University but had to drop out after getting pregnant. She struggled through working a variety of jobs and later got married. They later had two more children. Sharee decided to start her nursing career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She was awarded an AOD scholarship in August 2014 to attend a two-week intensive CNA course at J.F. Drake State. The scholarship funded the tuition, scrubs/uniforms, and the fee for the state licensing exam which she passed. Sharee was immediately employed as a caregiver after obtaining her license and was later hired in July 2015 at Huntsville Hospital working on the elective surgery floor. Sharee started in May 2016 working full-time for Fresenius Medical Care as a Patient Care Technician for dialysis patients. She has learned some phlebotomy and is working toward becoming a certified Hemodialysis Technician. After Sharee has been at Fresenius for a year, she will be eligible for their tuition assistance benefit and will apply it toward continuing her education to become a Registered Nurse. Sharee loves helping people, seeing their heath improve, and making them comfortable. She says sometimes people just need someone to listen to them. Sharee’s advice for someone in a difficult situation is to keep going and keep pushing even when it gets difficult. Even without kids, life can deal a tough hand. Her motivation is wanting a better life for family and herself.
